Tickets for the Angola Community Theatre production Design for Murder are on sale at 75 cents each. Purchases available from cast members in the English department Mr Ray Condon or the student publications office, with a performance planned at Tri-State College Auditorium in February 2021.
The Student Council election for Vice President and Treasurer will occur on March 9, 1965 with petitions due by Friday March 5. Craig Hess, Vice-President of Student Council, urges qualified students to apply, stressing good student government requires active participation from the student body.
Engineers on Tri State Campus preview a new learning approach for seniors in Chemical and Mechanical Engineering. On February 10 in Room 521, they watched the first of three 40 minute films illustrating problem solving through computing. The series, offered by Controls in the Mechanical Engineering course, may join the Chemical Engineer curriculum in the future per Dr Slagle.
The Southern Regional Training Program in Public Administration invites graduates to enroll in a twelve month course at universities in Alabama Kentucky and Tennessee. Fellows earn a certificate and may pursue a Master’s Degree. Coleman By Ransone Educational Director University Alabama notes the March 1965 deadline.
Angola City Police released details showing 861 arrests and 260 traffic accidents in 1964. Principal arrests were speeding 126, license violations 17, driving under the influence 15, stop sign violations 13, improper passing 12, reckless driving 10. One fatality and 26 injuries among 35 injured persons. Property damage totaled 80 009 02, up 31 125 67 from 1963.
Dr Ralph W Gilchrist chair of Electrical Engineering attended an educational science conference February 4 5 at Carnegie Institute of Technology Pittsburgh Penn The conference sponsored by Relations With Industry covered new teaching techniques to better satisfy industry Gilchrist said the new emphasis on teaching engineering will focus on designing with less emphasis on science He affirmed Tristate College now stresses design over led De Gilchrist learned the Mass Institute of Technology committee built system enabling Bone view drawing to be made into multiple views quickly He said the machine would perform the work of someone with excellent descriptive geometry knowledge
Ralph W. Lefler of Purdue University, a physics professor and former coordinator of National Science Teachers Association AAAS reports, will visit Tri-State College Angola on February 24 as a visiting lecturer under the American Association of Physics Teachers and American Institute of Physics. He will give lectures, meet students informally, and assist faculty on curriculum and research. Lefler’s career includes posts at LaSalle-Peru-Oglesby, Purdue, and consulting work for Cheng Kung University Taiwan, with leadership roles in several science education groups.
Registrations are being received daily for the 1965 Northeastern Tri-State Regional Science Fair at Tri-State College. Leo F. Kuhn notes February 92 is the deadline. Immaculate Conception School Auburn and Sister M Aurelia coordinate entries for elementary and junior high pupils from DeKalb LaGrange Noble Steuben counties in Indiana and Sturgis Michigan. The event runs March 19 20 and 21 and is sponsored by area professional societies. Prizes include trips to the National Science Fair in St Louis, Navy Science Cruise, tours of research centers and conferences, plus awards from NASA Army Air Force American Cancer Society and aviation groups. Participation certificates awarded to all entrants.
The Austrian groupPremiers in Tamarack delivered a lively performance of native folk songs and dances in colorful costumes. The visit, organized through Chuck Priest, drew spectators including local students in Angola.
