Great Society echoes through Fabian era debate
A columnist traces Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society to Graham Wallas’s 1914 Fabian framework, noting the shift from liberal optimism to a modern, state-directed anti poverty push. He contrasts Britain’s 1965 Fabian reforms with Johnson’s vision, arguing today’s approach mimics earlier gradualist socialism and offers limited success amid global pressures.
