Immunes Fight With Cubans Near San Luis
At San Luis twenty five miles north of Santiago Cuban forces attempted to arrest two Ninth immunes for hog stealing. A fight killed Cuban Lieutenant Ferrera and Antonio Roman an old man a boy and a baby. Two negro soldiers were slain by Cubans. General Wood dispatched to scene and promises discipline and a $1000 reward for the officer who led the attack. Local negroes accused of recent misconduct.

W M Kimball from the Michipicton district arrived with gold quartz from his claim showing free gold. A shot was put in the vein and exceptionally rich rock was discarded. Kimball displayed two specimens with a higher feldspar percentage than any previously taken from the district.
