In Washington Sept 7 Senator Jones of Nevada announced to Populist state chairs that he has quit the Republican party and aligned with the Populists. The move sparks talk of shifts in western races, with Newlands and others rumored to follow, and Jones’s stance on free coinage seen as a major factor in upcoming elections.
The Shawnee county Democratic convention meets tomorrow at 2:50 pm at the court house after primaries last night elected delegates in city wards and country preelection, with no ticket likely to be nominated unless an unforeseen event halts the plan.
