Col H C Cross formerly receiver of the M E T and president of Emporia First National Bank died suddenly of heart failure at the Grand Hotel Mackinac Michigan. He moved to Emporia in 1865, was Emporia’s first mayor, rail executive, bank founder, and a prominent Kansan with a long public service record.
