A fierce blaze devastated the business portion of Malta, leaving multiple storefronts leveled and authorities investigating the cause. Firefighters battled the flames for hours, with one injury reported and unspecified economic losses amid the chaotic scene. Local residents describe heavy smoke and widespread damage downtown.
A powerful storm struck Malta and surrounding areas causing extensive fire and flood damage. In Malta the business district was heavily damaged. Henrietta, Caledonia, Elmhorst, Belvidere, and other towns reported multiple buildings struck or destroyed. The Northwestern railway line near Trout Park washed out, and a section of the Air Line at Geneva endured washout. Local casualties include several injuries and property losses. details remain incomplete.
