He stated he has no knowledge of such a change and has seen nothing in papers about it. The Republican state central committee announced dates for John F. Scanlon of Chicago with stops across Kansas in early September.

Miss Clare Fox, a Christ hospital waitress, bought a gold watch chain and earrings from C. H. Morrison. Payment used an old 1864 Pennsylvania state bank bill from Oil City bank. Morrison reported, police traced Fox to Robert Lee's ranch. Fox admitted passing the note but her counsel urged against prosecution. The jewelry was recovered and returned to Morrison.

Charles A Warburton, Philadelphia Evening Telegraph proprietor, found dead in Atlantic City hotel at 6 years old due to heart disease. Chief Gardiner notes last election had 10,430 Republican votes. McKinley club member count 11,400. Alex W. McIntyre, 20, commits suicide with shotgun in Cleveland. Weather: Kansas partly cloudy Wednesday with possible showers in far east, south winds.
St Paul Minnesota September 1 The second day of Grand Army week opened with mild clouds and comfortable weather for veterans marching to quarters and the naval veterans and ex prisoners of war parade. Heavy trains arrived all night bringing in thousands of visitors with rail officials and volunteers busy housing them. Attendance expected to surpass twelve thousand tickets sold with many reunions of regimental groups and former comrades. A notable arrival was the Howell Kelleher post drug corps wearing old continental style uniforms and gray hair as veterans recalled Civil War memories.
In Minneapolis a camp transfer ceremony moved camp work from General Wheaton to General Lower of Iowa as Major Jewell and Major Cooke spoke. A bicycle parade and carnival rode with Knights brigades. In Wichita a Mount Hope mayor killed himself with buckshot near the railroad, the motive unclear, death immediate.
A 15 year old, Ralph Sherwood, employed at Wm. Alten's second hand store at 20 Kansas Avenue, robbed the proprietor of six dollars from a pocketbook kept in a show case. The theft occurred shortly before noon and the boy fled but was pursued by Ephraim Kepley and arrested south of the city on the road to Pauline. The money was recovered and the youth was jailed.
A police matron brought in a woman she believed sick with possible diphtheria. City Physician Mitchell examined her. symptoms do not yet indicate diphtheria. The woman, recently employed at a large city boarding house, has a child in an orphanage. Welcomed by Mayor Pingras. Detroit September 1.
