Frances Ghigleri spent days in Granville this week. Edith Gibbs took the teachers exam in Lacon last Friday and Saturday. Twenty five new books added to the library bought with Old Southland Sextette Concert funds. Many books missing from the library. please help locate them. Over 180 pupils now enrolled in the first three rooms. Some former pupils return at intermissions to play, disturbing nearby study. With warm days approaching, students urged to stay diligent until June 1 for a vacation. Several boys and girls have dropped out to herd cows. propose a two by two club to share duties and keep students in school. Twenty six school days left. pasture costs cited to justify keeping boys in class. A program of merit will be exhibited by Toluca High School on Tuesday May 6 with opening chorus, two of a kind act, high-class selections, violin solo, two ghosts in white, and closing song.

Martha J. Phelps Dies After Brief Illness in Toluca Area
Martha J. Treakle Phelps died at her son Milton Phelps home after a three day illness. Services were held at the house with Rev. Navity officiating, burial at Bell Plain cemetery beside her husband Ezekiel Phelps. Born March 22 1880 in Maryland she was 83. She married Ezekiel in May 1850 and had 12 children, six living. Survivors include Milton, Albert, John, Elizabeth, and Edwin Phelps among others. pallbearers listed.
