Toluca Council in Special Session Approves Minutes and Appointments

Toluca city council met in special session April 20 with acting mayor pro tem Joe Maccono presiding. Members Blazina, Maccono, Rusciolelli, Slattery, Peterson approved April 1 2 and April 4 10 17 minutes, received treasurer’s report, and accepted Toluca Bank communication. Bills totaling 50 were allowed and several bonds and alderman qualifications were approved or filed. Adjournment followed, with continuation next week.

Died Suddenly Pominick Antonacci Succumbs at Home

Pominick Antonacci died suddenly last Saturday afternoon at about one o clock at his Toluca home after years of rheumatic illness. Funeral services were Sunday at St. Ann's church with Rev Father Walsh. interment followed at St. Ann's Cemetery. He belonged to the Star of Italy lodge. He leaves a widow and five children.

Rev. Downey Visits Old Acquaintances in Arkansas

Reverend John Downey aged 86, formerly of Venonza, now Bentonville, Arkansas, visits longtime connections the Moulds Parker and Litchfield families. Downey, who married John Parker and wife earlier, remains robust at his advanced age. Parker and Mrs Parker once lived in the city and he worked at the old Firat National Bank.

Jensen to Lead Toluca with Clean Up Day Plan

The Toluca city council held its last meeting with H. P. Jensen as mayor. No police changes. Jensen announced a future clean up day asking all residents to collect rubbish and place it in a box for collection, with orders to be issued and penalties possible for noncompliance.

Picnic Supper For 42 Club At Brown Home

The 42 club met at Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brown home on Thursday evening with about thirty guests. A picnic supper was served at 7 30 featuring fried chicken baked beans potato salad cabbage blueberry pie coffee and more. Guests carried dishes to the dining room as Miss Gibbs and Miss Shepard helped clear away. Mr Brown led the men to the stairs for a smoke and Progress 42 entertained until about 12 30 when guests wished good night and planned another visit.

Toluca High School Notes Enrollments Near Peak

The Toluca high school reports total enrollment of 450 with a near record high. Tardy marks total 47 for the month and 184 students were present all month. Attendance for the month runs about 90 percent. No graduates this year. Plan for an accredited high school for 1913 and 1914 is urged.
