County Fair Activities Highlight 4-H Booths Attract Crowd
The 4 H club building at the County Fair drew an unusually large crowd with many favorable comments. Eleven clubs operated booths this year filling the buildings, while fewer booths were bigger and of higher standard.
County 4-H Demonstrations Highlight County Championship
Twelve demonstration teams competed for county honors in a tight contest. Ledyard Loyal Laborers won with Flower Arrangement demonstrated by Mary Jane and Fern Lewis. Second place went to Burt Lively League club Genevieve Patterson and Lorraine Kollasch with Braided Burlap Rugs. Third to Fenton Forward on Flower Arrangements by Alice and Lorena Dreyer. German Golden Glee club won judging, Sena Tjaden and Anna Abbas on top look.

Tuesday evening the Buffalo Consolidated teachers were honored at a school reception in the gym with a program including welcome by Mrs. M. Craven and remarks by Supt. Hoon. Guests included Supt. and Mrs. C. A. Hoon and many local families. Also noted are wedding anniversary celebrations and various social gatherings in the community with hostesses and attendees named.

Bad Town For Peddlers In De Witt Clinton County
De Witt officers picked up six fly by night peddlers recently. Four men from Dubuque were fined for selling without a peddler license. Two others were fined for selling cosmetics without a license and had to leave their sample cases full of cosmetics until they could obtain money to redeem them. The town enforces the ordinance strictly.

Twenty years ago Ed Rike planned a new barn to be a lasting improvement and John Severein's residence framing was rising. Typhoid fever struck several locals including Mr and Mrs John G Wirtjes and Miss Jensen near Germania. The Buffalo Center town anniversary attracted many locals last Friday while A B Davis and family visited John Pink’s. Roy C Ball remained seriously ill with typhoid fever. A H Rakow and daughter visited Chicago after a brief trip. Antone Goetz sold 72 pigs last week earning 1276 dollars, with over 400 pigs remaining. Mrs A M Petersen, the Sexton correspondent, was ill with typhoid fever, as was her mother Mrs Chas Reib.
