Raymond Krantz departed Saturday night with a 4 percent ton load of honey from Rev. Gartner's apiary, totaling 9 000 pounds, bound for Chicago. He traveled by truck and carried a heavy shipment.
A reception for the teachers is set for Monday evening September 11 at the school gymnasium. A business session in the auditorium at 7:30 will precede the reception. Everyone is urged to attend.
A group from town took Hernan and Dick Franzen's Chevrolet to a ball game between a colored and a white team. After the match the car lagged with a sprained back until barber Batt arrived with his Model T. The T towed the Chevrolet and its 11 riders into Titanica, drawing cheers for the passing generation.

Grand Jurors will be the same as last term and report September 26, 1938. Mr Dick Harms was greatly surprised Sunday September 3 when all his children and grandchildren gathered at his home to help celebrate his 65th birthday. A three course dinner was served by Mrs Harms and before the children left for their homes a lunch of ice cream and angel food cake was served. Those present were Mr and Mrs Jerry Willis and sons Vernon Russel Mervin and daughter Roselyn of Titonka Mr and Mrs Clarence Winters and son Gerald and daughter Deloris of Mason City Mr and Mrs Fred Steil and son of Wesley and Ralph and John Harms of Titonia Grandpa Harms received a beautiful gift from his grandchildren to help him remember the occasion.
The Sunday School reports 152 attendees with two classes at perfect attendance. Next Sunday services will be in German morning and English evening. A new furnace, long needed, is now assured. John and Jerry Hardware of Buffalo Center won the bid as the most satisfactory among six bids.
The Ramsay Young People's club hosts a Fair Night on church grounds September 13 at 7:30 p m. All amusements and concessions are run by the youth with penny pricing replacing nickels dimes and quarters. Games of skill and chance abound with food and drink options as attendees spend only pennies. Everyone is invited to attend.
Grandchildren of Supt. C. A. Hoon of Titonka arrived in Garner on Saturday to meet Jack and Mary who had spent a week with Rel and Mrs. Ernest Hoon. They were excited at the chance to meet a new baby brother born recently.
Secretary Dalley reports the Spencer Clay County Fair will be a great event with hundreds of entries in auto races harness races livestock and agricultural and women's work. Reforestation camp improvements include a 14 acre parking plot with gravel roads and spaced lots for all weather access. Free admission and parking and Kids Day on Tuesday will attract families and schoolchildren. Dalley adds this year will feature the finest exhibits and programs yet by Clay County Fair management.
The Chaney home welcomed Marilyn Mabel at 9 07 Saturday and Marion Head at 9 56 Monday, two days and 49 minutes apart, raising the question if they are twins or just siblings. Lawrence and Edith Briggs visited Mrs. Reynolds and Frank, aided by the Michaelson girls, enjoyed Sauer kraut Day at Lakota, and left for Iron River Wisconsin.

Mr and Mrs Hillis Jain celebrated their seventeenth wedding anniversary with a surprise last Sunday afternoon. Sixty relatives and friends attended to honor the couple, bringing ice cream and cake for refreshments. A mock wedding and community singing followed the refreshments, enjoyed by all attendees.
A northern storm produced the heaviest rainfall in weeks on Friday night around six o'clock. Rain persisted for hours with measurements near three inches and some farmers reporting three and a half inches. The section finally received needed moisture for fall plowing and pastures, though too late for corn and gardens.

Ringsted Dispatch reports Mason City figure G Dung plans to run for U S Senate against L J Dickinson in 1936 on the Democratic ticket. Dunn praised as a longtime ally of farmers, an able orator and attorney, historically supportive of agriculture while Dickinson is described as harsh to farmers.
Elizabeth Bonacker, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Bonacker, earned fourth place in her class and first in the improvement class at the Iowa State Fair Baby Health Contest. She scored 97.69 this year, up from 95.5 last year, a 2.19 improvement. Robert Eugene Downs, second son of Mr and Mrs Homer Downs, was the only other Titonka baby in the health contest with a 97.32 score. 52 babies were judged in his class.
Arend Honken died Sunday night at his daughter’s home aged 79 years 11 months and 30 days. Born in Germany he emigrated in 1904 and farmed near Kamrar then Fenton Titonka and finally Bancroft area families. Survived by daughters Mrs Otto Barenthine Bancroft Mr John Tarels Bancroft Mrs Carl Brown Fulda Minn Mrs Ben Abben Williams Iowa and stepsons Amos Kromminga Titonka Albert Kromminga Princeton Mrs J Neiland Burt and Mrs Miss Meyer Hampton. Funeral by Rev Schnucker at German Reformed Church with burial in German township cemetery. Pallbearers listed.
Lutheran church to hold mission festival on September 10 with Rev Fritchel of Jackson Minnesota and Rev Schreitmeuller of Keister Minnesota as speakers. Services at 10 30, 2, and 8 pm. Dinner in church basement. Mission offerings taken at each service. Ladies Aid met last Wednesday and hostesses named. Infant Joyce Johnson baptized last Friday with sponsors Ernest and Livia Trasmer. Mr and Mrs Adolph Missal celebrated 25th wedding anniversary at church with social hour and lunch. Sunday school at 9 30 am.
