States move on repealing the Eighteenth Amendment
Twenty five states have voted to repeal the 18th amendment and by the time snow flies that law may be off the statute books. During the interim state legislatures will have to make new laws or continue under the old laws now on the statute books. Iowa would be dry so far as hard liquor is concerned if the present laws continue.

Salary grabbers facing executions over expenses recoupment
Gov Clyde Herring says the state has judgments against senators and representatives who did not return invalid expenses from the 48th general assembly. The state treasury loses around $60,000. Enforcement now by executions is possible. Kossuth county lawmakers are not indebted to the state. Two carloads of South Dakota pigs traveled from near the Missouri river to a Waterloo farm. About 600 pigs, 40 pounds each, bought at 50 cents, sold near Waterloo for $1.50. Lucius Warner accompanied the drivers. Pigs from South Dakota suffered from lack of feed, prompting low sale prices.
