The Bureau of Census and Iowa agencies urge every Iowa family to file birth cards for newborns and older children. Production control reasons voiced by county agent in 1944

G A Bonunstetter, county agent and USDA representative, explains production control aims to adjust output up or down, not just cut. The 1935 program would prevent a slide to 1933 levels that could crash prices, and allow expansion beyond drought year production. He cites four factors predicting excessive 1938 corn acreage without controls, including crop shortages, normal yields, reduced corn needs, and drought-damaged pastures expanding plantable land. Also notes infant death of Bud Tienan's child.
