Milledgeville Woman Killed By Train At Crossing
Mrs. Caroline Muender 78 was killed instantly at 1 25 p m Sept 23 when struck by a Great Northern streamliner at the Main Street crossing in Milledgeville. Eyewitnesses and officials described the run to the crossing and the incomplete stop 1500 feet past it. A verdict of accidental death was returned. funeral services were held at the Brethren church with burial in Maple Ridge cemetery. She was born Feb 7 1876 in Jordan township and married Albert W Muender in 1908. Surviving are sisters and brothers in Sterling and Milledgeville.

Arraignments occurred in Carroll county circuit court with three defendants pleading guilty and two seeking extra time to file motions. William Lilly admitted larceny and requested probation. Samuel Turnbaugh Jr pleaded guilty to larceny of a motor vehicle and grand larceny. William Hoover pleaded guilty to armed robbery larceny and assault. Four Men Face Added Charges After Jailbreak Attempt
Four men bound over to the county grand jury after a failed jail escape at Carroll County Jail. Hemminger and Greer held on 15000 bond, Turnbaugh and Hoover on 10000 bonds. Hemminger allegedly hid hacksaw blades in his shoes and a bar was cut in the cell block during the attempt.
