Mrs Josephine Christiansen Toepfer aged 81 of Mt Carroll died Saturday in Clinton Iowa. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Frank Funeral Home Mt Carroll with Rev Wilbur Nicholson officiating. Mrs. W A Adams will celebrate her 90th birthday on Sept 22 at her Thomson home. A lifelong resident, she was the sole survivor of Thomson High School Class of 1890, taught briefly, then practiced nursing, taught Sunday School for 40 years, served as librarian for 19 years, helped organizations including the T N T club and Royal Neighbors, and aided Red Cross in both World Wars.

Thomson Varsity Band joins 96 member NIU Marching Band and 15 other northern Illinois bands at DeKalb for halftime during the Northern Winona State College game. Dr Gordon Bird directs the NIU group. Richard Larsen leads Thomson musicians. They will depart Thomson at 9 AM by school bus and perform five pieces including the 1812 Overture finale.
