A well attended Soldiers and Sailors Reunion honored National Defense Day with a large turnout across the county. Congressman McKenzie gave a fine address before an aviator’s risky aerial stunts overhead. Local veterans joined in a parade, proud of the celebration. Attendees from our area included F. Melugin, Wm Cone, and others.
Notice to all landowners in Savanna York Drainage District Carroll County Illinois that the annual benefits for drainage and levee work are due. Payment must be made to Treasurer Tillie M. Dugard at Thomson State Bank Thomson Illinois on or before March 10, 1925. Failure to pay will trigger sale of delinquent tracts to cover taxes and costs. Dated September 2, 1924.
The Red Spots and Carroll County Farm Bureau team meet at Mt Carroll on Saturday for the season’s final game. The down state squad has not lost to any Farm Bureau team, and local county players are noted as fast. Also mentions visitors Fred Yates of Milwaukee, Amos Yates’ relation, and visits with Mrs Frank Anderson.
Will Johnson purchases the Sewart farm west of Sandridge where he now lives. his son Frank, newly married, will move in after March first. The current tenant Mr. Fenner will conduct a closing sale soon but has not chosen a new location. The article notes a failing song line about rain.

Hunters willing to pay ten dollars per day were turned away at Dr Mathis farm early Monday as the score of duck hunting restricted by time. The 5:40 AM to noon hours drew visitors from Chicago Davenport Rockford and nearby towns within fifty miles. Two colored men from Chicago paid twenty dollars for a blind until noon.
