Carrell County farmers plan the fifth annual Farm Bureau picnic at the fairgrounds on Saturday September 20 with events from 10 AM to late afternoon. Attractions include tug of war baseball race and a noon picnic dinner with music by the Farm Bureau quartet urging strong local support.
The A Muse U theater lists September programs with Douglas Fairbanks John Gilbert Mary Pickford and D W Griffith titles. Music by the A Musea Orchestra accompanies shows starting at 8 15 p m with regular admission. visitors Bud Saver Norton and Lew Sears noted for local activities and plans of Lew to move to a nearby farm.
Miss Zelma Rush hosted a Saturday evening shower for Miss Kratz at her home and the group presented an electric iron. The AMUSEU plans to show The Covered Wagon in Clinton soon. Herman Franche and wife and Charles Switzer and wife were in Hanover for Mrs Julius Franche’s illness, who died the next day. Sylvia Lewis returned from a two week Minneapolis visit with sister Mrs L H Stirling. Roy Alexander and wife returned home near Ord Colorado after a month with relatives. John Voltz and wife welcomed a son Sunday September 5. Local youths attended a Thomson M E Church Sunday school party Tuesday night.
The annual reunion of Veterans of 61 will be held in Savannah tomorrow with a full program. Events begin with a bugle call at 7 00, band marches to Division and Main Street, a patriotic parade at 10 00, call to order at Lincoln School at 10 30, invocation by Rev. C W Fischer, a reading from Lincoln and the Banks of his Workmen, a veteran quartet, an address by Congressman McKenzie, and the Star Spangled Banner, ending with audience participation.
Born to Mr and Mrs Cecil Mitchell on September 3 a son. Mr and Mrs Gardner Lawrence are the parents of a son born last Friday. Mr Carroll prepares for their Fall festival to be held October 1 2 and 3 with free acts and substantial cash prizes for fruit seeds and more. Plan your business so you can attend.
Claude Densmore and family arrived home Sunday evening after ten days visiting relatives and friends in Wisconsin. Sheriff Howard arrested James Sorenson Monday morning for the alleged auto theft at Chadwick about a month earlier. The car, owned by Jack Dollinger, was repainted by Sorenson and taken to Clinton where Moraine sold it to a Mr. Blaine in Albany. Moraine and Sorenson were jailed in Carroll. Sorenson’s defense claimed he did not know the car was stolen.
