PTA Opens Season Thursday With Introduction Of Faculty
Thomson PTA convened its season with a September 8 meeting in the school cafeteria. Mrs. Wayne Hannah of Freeport spoke on Let PTA Bring Out During the business meeting presided by Mrs. Paul Green, a $2 fee for using PTA dishes was noted. The 1966-67 teacher staff was introduced by Mr. Wayne Tidd and the Mode third grade won the attendance banner with 16 of 21 sets. Refreshments followed with a social hour hosted by the executive board chaired by Mrs. Irvin Senneff.

Returns From Northern Vacation
Otto Switzer and companions Mr and Mrs Cletus Hancock of Elizabeth and Mr and Mrs James Morrison of Thomson returned from a week long trip through the northern states. Fire Destroys Behr Farm Barn and 500 Hogs
A barn at the Behr farm east of Thomson burned completely after noon on Wednesday. Firefighters could not save the barn or about 500 hogs. Lightning striking a transformer is suspected as the cause. The tenanted Ray Dodge property, owned by Robert Behr of Clinton, also lost electric saws and tools. insurance covers the loss.

Funeral services for Mrs. Floyd Tobey also known as Mabel Tobey age 56 who died August 31 in Tucson Arizona were held at 2 PM Friday September 2 at the First Methodist church in Tucson. Survived by husband three sons Linda and other relatives. Relatives from this area attended. Also notes visitors from Thomson Clinton Morrison Chadwick and Mission Hills. FHA Officers Held Meeting at Thomson High School
The Thomson Chapter of the FHA held its second officers planning session on September 12 at 7:00 PM in the home economics room with eight members present. Karen Schmitt was elected vice president of degrees, Rita Fehler was named voting delegate for October Rally in Durand, Lois Huizenga to run for section office, and Mrs. Donald Sippel for section mother. Reports noted the freshmen Wiener roast on September 15 at Public Landing 6:00 to 7:30 and the Mother Daughter Tea on September 29. Charlotte Cate and Mike Atherton were appointed to hire a band for October 28, while Cathy Sippel and Charlotte Cate were tasked with competitive name tags for the rally, and Charlene Cate to prepare birthday gifts for Thomson's discussion group.
