Corneil K. Smit of Ustick Dies After Illness
Corneil K. Smit, a longtime farmer of Ustick, died Monday at Jane Lamb hospital after a short illness. Born March 25 1878 in Groningen Netherlands he came to the United States at 19 settling in Chicago before moving to Fulton area farmland. Funeral services were held Wednesday in Ustick and Fulton First Reformed Church with burial in Fulton cemetery. He is survived by six children and three brothers in the Netherlands.

Weston Smith died September 2 from a heart attack at Savanna, aged 58. Funeral services were conducted at Fuller Funeral Home Mt Carroll with Rev James A Foard officiating and burial in Savanna cemetery. Officiants and pallbearers listed among local relations, with extended attendance from Thomson and La Crosse. Smith formerly worked as a railroad switch man, later with Burlington Railroad, was born March 8 1884 at Wacker. He is survived by widow Margar et Sheedy, six children, a brother and a sister, and several relatives from Illinois and Wisconsin.
