Carroll county completes air wardens 25 hour course
Monday night the final session of the Carroll county school for air raid wardens was held at Mount Carroll. Five Thomson men completed the course and are now qualified to perform warden duties and to instruct others in the community. Local honorees include Paul Lewis and IL D Morse Hayes Frazier Leonard Stage and William Strubb. Eber Shepherd led the program with ten hours first aid three hours fire safety and five hours gas attack drills and general instruction.

Williams to enter Navy training at Great Lakes
Hubert Williams son in law of Mr and Mrs Arthur Pape has enlisted in the United States Navy and will report to Great Lakes Naval training station September 8. After six weeks there he will attend one of five Radar schools as a radio technician to learn installation and operation of new radio airplane detector devices. The Williams family has been in Stockton running the Stockton theatre and he has worked at the Savannah ordnance depot as a radio man. Mrs Williams and Burton will join him once permanently located.

Methodist Ladies Meet Wednesday in church group
The Women's Society of Christian Service met Wednesday afternoon at Mrs. Hattie Rawlins's home with 20 members and several visitors including Mrs. Orella Bennett Mrs. North and children Mrs. Helen Gaar and Mrs. Mary O'Dell who became a new member Rev. and Mrs. Woodrow of Albany attended.
