Moline Man Recalls Alaska Trip Along Inward Passage
Albert A. Teske of Teske Feed and Seed Co reports a three week Alaska trip by rail along the Inward Passage. He saw Skagway, Lake Bennett, a giant glacier source, a large gold mine, a salmon cannery, and Canadian Rockies. He notes Alaskan winters are mild near the coast and that travel is strenuous, especially for the 70 plus.

Thomson Melon Day Big Success at Labor Day Celebration
A large crowd attended Thomson Melon Day with an estimated 10 000 people, about 500 more than last year. The new night show drew strong turnout while ideal weather and well managed grounds contributed to a festive day with midway attractions, sports, platform entertainment, barn dance, and free melons quickly dispersed. Fulton defeated Thomson in baseball, Black Farms triumphed in softball, and many locals registered to enjoy the events under Deputy Sheriff Eber Shepherd’s supervision.
