Bake sale rally boosts community Christmas fund total
The bake sale hosted by the Woman's Club on Saturday November 1 raised funds toward a Christmas decoration fund. Donations this week increased the total to 866.11 dollars, 133.89 short of the 1000 dollar goal. Thomson School teachers and students contributed about 100 dollars, with 73.75 from the Thomson Education Association. Freshmen added 25 dollars, with unanimous support. Lions Club contributed 50 dollars, plus gifts from local residents. The sale runs 9 am to 2 pm at the fire station with baked goods and farm produce. Donations can be picked up by calling local organizers.

Michael J. Atherton, son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Atherton of Thomson, has been promoted to Cadet Sergeant Major in the Air Force ROTC Group Detachment 190 at the University of Illinois Urbana.
