Indict 2 In Lanark Still Raid Backers Face Seven Indictments
Seven indictments were returned by the federal grand jury in Freeport. The two charged in separate indictments involve Mont R. Cheeseman of Lanark and Elwyn F. Carroll County officials report a record surge in requests for absent voters ballots. By Monday noon 84 residents had received ballots while at least as many more requested applications. Albert Herbig Weds Freeport Girl in Indiana

Tru man Roser presided as two day fair plans covered grain and corn exhibits by Future Farmers and 4 H clubs with Lloyd Peters named entertainment chair. Flames raze new barn near Carroll on Tuesday morning
A newly finished barn on the Austin Roche farm north west of Mt Carroll was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning. Two losses were estimated at 8400. Fire originated from spontaneous combustion of soy beans stored inside. Neighboring buildings were spared and insurance covered hay and straw losses. The Mt Carroll fire department was delayed by distance. The old Roche barn burned last year.

Secretary of State Reports Tax Saving Figures
Carroll county automobile owners saved 6973.50 in state license fees in the first eight months of 1936 after the fee reduction effective Jan 1. Secretary Hughes said the reduction amounts to about 45 percent per car and did not diminish revenue, noting an increase in license fees and registrations through Sept. 1936. He forecast yellow license plates with black numerals next year and free application forms soon. Ballots for county 4-H contests were issued this week with expected high turnout.

Farm Woman Burns Cleaning Fluids Near Savanna
Mrs. Hendel, living seven miles north of Savanna, was seriously burned Monday morning when cleaning fluid she used to remove mattress spots ignited. Her clothing caught fire, she smothered flames with a blanket, and was treated by a physician in Savanna. She is resting at a daughter’s home on the Ridge road.

Milledgeville Man Harvey Donahoo Dies at 34
Harvey Donahoo 34 a Milledgeville resident for most of his life died Saturday night at his Lanark home after weeks with Bright's disease. He is survived by his widow, his mother Mrs. Kate Dean of Milledgeville, a sister Mrs. Clara Hodge of Milledgeville, and two half brothers Harry and Leonard Dean of Milledgeville. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Shirk Funeral Chapel Milledgeville with Dr W S Bell officiating. Interment was in Brethren Cemetery.
