Runyan Fined in Federal Court for Revenue Violations
Thomas H. Runyan of Savanna tavern owner pleaded guilty in Freeport federal court to violating internal revenue laws. Judge Elwyn R. Shaw fined him 300 dollars plus costs for sending whisky to a fraternal organization in an Iowa town without a wholesaler license. He must also pay 500 dollars as a tax compromise offer and may owe 2,400 dollars floor tax if whisky is returned.

Mrs Atina Gabbourie a Savanna resident for 64 years died at Savanna city hospital after more than three weeks illness. Funeral at St John Catholic church Savanna conducted by Fr A O Brien with burial in local Catholic cemetery. Born October 9 1857 in Petershborough Ontario she married Edward Gabbourie in Canada and they moved to Savanne in 1876. Survived by six nieces a nephew and other Canadian relatives. Husband and three sons preceded her in death.

Henry Brennecke 74 of Carroll county was killed in Chicago in a Oct 6 hit and run. He lived in Chicago 25 years and is survived by his widow two sons three brothers and other relatives. Henry P Hoffman 85 formerly of Savanna died in Los Angeles. He was the son of pioneer Savanna residents and survived by his widow three daughters and a sister.
