President John Shirk of Mill Edgeville heads the Carrol County Taxpayers Association and calls a committee meeting at Chadwick Friday evening with executive members John Shirk George Jones and Charles Harris invited guests from York and other towns expected to join. Nearby social notes mention Ed Coleman and child visiting Rockford and several Chadwick residents attending local club events and visits over the weekend.

The Tocal chapter of Eastern Stars meets this evening at the lodge hall. Katherine Cooper reports on the Grand Chapter Session at Danville. Mrs Orella Bennett oversees a short program after the meeting. The social committee includes Miss Mary Cone as chair and Mesdames Fair Circuit, Bella Moran, Jane Mitchell, Kate Waitrey, Edna Cooper, Marian Smith.
Nine members of the ladies aid society met at the M Sarah Graharing home on Wednesday. They will meet again at the same place next week. A bake sale is planned for Saturday October 15 at the Utilities building. Sunday school officers were elected for the year: Supt Mrs Jennie Collinson Assistant Supt Mr John Lehade Secretary Roberta Lewis Pianist Ralph Atherton Junior Dept Supt Mrs George Balk. Timers Klass meet Tuesday at BR Lewis home with Roberta and Tamona Lewis on the social committee. Election of class officers to be held. Sunday school next Sunday morning at 10:15. No preaching due to minister at conference.
The Tadies aid society meets this afternoon at the church basement. The regular Sunday school social occurs Tuesday evening at the Edson Holland home. There will be no church services next Sunday. Sunday school resumes at the usual hour.
Locals report weekend visits by Mr. and Mrs. George Creighton at the Matson home in Erie and by Mr. and Mrs. Prentiss Kenyon in Chadwick to see her parents. F H George and son C P George have rented the A Steele farm south of Fulton for the coming year. Roy Hellman hosted as Friday guests at John Calvert’s Hanover home and Rob Virl’s Elizabeth residence. Claude Millard and children of Yates City plan a Friday drive to visit their mothers Ida Weber and Sarah Millard and other relatives.

The Review arrives a day late due to a broken press and an electric storm. A linotype failure required a Chicago part, then speedy repair allowed resumption of work. The duck season opens Sunday October 16 at noon. Miss Gladys Kauffman was a Sunday guest in Savanna as state markers were being placed on Route 80 this week.
The Mints Doo Brooks sur Harriett Zugschwerdt entertained at two tables of bridge at the Brochill residence Wednesday overtires. Guests included Mrs B R Tdiwis, Mrs i TL Huagrhe lon, Dr Genevieve Chynan and several Miss Ruth Woossier Nelle Burne and Grace Thomas. High honors went to Mrs Chiproan and second to Mrs B R Lewis. A delightful evening followed with dainty refreshments served by the hostesses. Miss Josephine Mudd of Chicago visiting at the B R Lewis home. Mrs Edna Shoemaker spent Friday in Batavia visiting her mother Mrs Lillian Stratton.
Robert Carroll, a member of the Hustling Helper Calf club, traveled to Chicago with four club calves and sold them for over $300. This local independent basketball report notes the quick win and Carroll's venture.
Glen Mart of Waterloo visits parents Mr and Mrs George Mort as Mt Carroll and Elizabeth guests drop by. Families from DeWitt Prophetstown and Rockford connect with local residents. Sophomore class at the high school enjoyed a hard time party with games Hiram and Mirandr and Three Deep. Refreshments were simple soda crackers salted peanuts and pickles. Entertainment in the music room featured a month organ and readings by Hazel Machel. Weekley Martindak, recently ill, is recovering at home. Mr and Mrs Sarl have Mer Cone ill but improving at Galeburg. Mr Sapp, a sweeper, is able to be up part of each day at Ayett Tower between Throne das. This weekend she plans to visit Ayett Tower and Savanna while L B Sears remains in care after railroad work.
