Argo Fa players led by Fred Nipe blanked Savanna 5 to 4 in extra innings after a tight game at Chadwick. Mac reports Savanna took the ninth thanks to a lucky break, but Argo-Fa rallied for the win as E Hook and teammates starred on the mound and in the field.
The Thomson Independents begin the 1932 basketball season with a two game slate at the high school gym on Thursday night. Games start at 7 o clock with ten and twenty five cent admissions. First, Thomson second team faces Fulton Panthers then Thomson first team meets Fulton American Legion for top honors. Large crowd expected, arrive early for best seating.
The P T A will hold an evening meeting at the high school with a program including solos by Velma Sack Geneva Lute Selo Harold Joens and Albert Vie a piano solo Violet Volz Lehreiner cornet solo and Jack Geist address Attitude Sup sex a dance by the Clinton County Ta Selo and a reading by Vivian Sac The event is sponsored by Miss Joens teacher of District 77 The November program will be sponsored by Mrs Grace Seim.
The people of Albany plan a road dedication on Wednesday October 12 with a four o'clock parade and a six o'clock banquet supper followed by speaking. Various towns will be represented and invitations are being sent this week.
Horace Hall, longtime Thomson resident who plowed the first furrow for the Wabash Union railroad through the present site, dies at 90. He moved to the area early and farmed after marriage, leaving a lasting local footprint and respected by neighbors. Dr G E Guenzler a noted foot specialist from Savanna has opened a new office at 512 East Stephenson Street in the U S Best Building Freeport He will be in Freeport Monday through Thursday each week and will remain at his Savanna office on Fridays and Saturdays to care for patients in Carroll and Jo Daviess counties She has earned many friends for his work in the region and opens the Freeport office to serve northern patients.
Work on a new road forming a continuation of Tenth Avenue at Fulton began Tuesday morning. The project will connect Route 80 to the Ingwerson pasture and later cement pave the remainder, creating a cement spur from Route 80 to the Pukton business section. Cement pouring is planned to start next Tuesday morning.
Locals finish season with a 20 win and 6 loss record after beating Chadwick 15 to 3. Thomson players Thomson, Tousley brothers, Dee St Ores, Lewis, Gerald Brown, Melendy, Holland, Voss, Wilt, Hartish lead a homegrown squad with consistent lineup and strong hitting against Chadwick, and acknowledgments note prior summer rivals.
The Melon Tossers prepare for a string of games against Savanna teams with fixtures on July 21 and July 25 at Savanna, then matches against Chad Fairhaven and Mt Carroll in late summer and autumn. The team is managed by Chadwick.

Findings indicate mile a minute driving costs far more than slower speeds with gasoline use rising sevenfold from 20 to 35 miles per hour and overall wear inferred but not quantified.
