Red Cross Flour Depot Aids Savanna Needy Families
The Red Cross oversees flour distribution in Carrell county with a main depot at 5. Vanna under T F Donahue and Geo Mest. Each township supervisor signs for the flour, with receipts for individual sacks. Savanna has 165 needy families and is serving many more as depressions deepen. Three shipments totaling 1026 sacks have entered the county in recent months. The process uses best grade flour purchased by the Federal Farm Loan Board for national relief.

Veteran farmer J J Prowant Chadwick wins veteran farmer certificate
J J Prowant of Wy township near Chadwick is among the first farmers to receive a Veteran Farmer certificate after fifty years in the business. Born December 9, 1859 in Wy township on a Milledgeville area farm, he has lived most of his life in Wysox township now at 72. National artist creates nature canvases near Savanna for exhibit
nationally known artist from Chicago, born in Lanark, plans about 30 nature scene canvases to be displayed at Fox Art Museum in Chicago. He previously operated studios in New York and Chicago and earned prizes including the 1933 World's Fair Poster award. He will offer portraits from Lanark studio and Madsens Gallery in Savanna on Fridays.
