Collision Fatal to WySoX Man

Arthur L. Hart, 75, Milledgeville, died after a collision with a milk truck on state route 88 near Sterling. The truck, driven by George Schnitzler, 29, of Milledgeville, swerved onto the shoulder while braking, then returned to the opposite lane and struck Hart head on. Hart was pronounced dead on arrival at Sterling hospital. The coroner’s jury cited a head injury as the cause. State officials testified about speed and signals. witnesses gave conflicting accounts of brakes and stop lights. Hart’s body was to be taken to Shirk funeral home. he leaves two sons and two daughters.

Bullheads Rescued From Overpopulated Savanna Rivers

Fisheries division crews operate in the Savanna vicinity removing bullheads from over crowded waters. The rescued fish will be distributed to Kids Fish Ponds across the state while Savanna waters are restocked with game fish.

Clarence Van Buskirk of Chadwick exhibited purebred Herefords at the Illinois Hereford Breeders' Association fall sale in Normal on Sept 16. Court MIEVATS fous Judge presides on motion to quash indictment

Judge Jeon Zich presided Monday at a hearing on a motion by Atty Ralph Eaton to quash the indictment charging Frank Gerens Dubuque Ta and Nicholas Feren Chienge with theft of two slot machines. Prosecutors and defense presented arguments as state police testified. The judge continued the hearing to October 10 and ordered jurors summoned for Wednesday not to report for duty on October 14.

Schreiner Leaves for Lab Training in Minneapolis

Stransdale Air Park Approved Near Savanna

Carroll county's Stransdale Air Park near Savanna receives State certificate of approval as a Class 1 airport. Privately owned by veterans Howard Gorman and Roland Curry, the 160 acre site will include two diagonal 2400 foot runways and a 2000 foot east west strip, a water system, night lighting, repair shop, and future seaplane base. Training planes have been purchased and field owners include May, Joseph Runyan, Bill Styples, and Russell Hastings. Gorman serves as flight operations head and Curry as maintenance chief.

Funeral of Oscar Rahn Held Sunday

Funeral services for Oscar W Rahn 79 of Lanark were held Sunday at his home and Brookville Evangelical church with Rev. George Walters and Rev. R W Tenney officiating. Burial followed in Lanark cemetery. He was born February 23 1868 in Rock Creek township Carroll county and survived by a son Leroy two grandchildren three sisters and three brothers. Local relatives attended from Chadwick and vicinity.

Death of James Paschal longtime Illinois area farmer

James Paschal aged 80 died Saturday evening at six at the home of his son-in-law Virgil Malnix. He was born March 18, 1863 in Fenton to William and Elizabeth Paschal and married Elizabeth Steinhagen Dee in 1895. Surviving are his wife, six daughters, two sons, and several grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p m at the Lutheran church with Dr F M Keller officiating and burial in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Carroll Farmer Injured in Tractor Accident Near Mt Carroll

George W Polhill, 44, a farmer living northwest of Mt. Carroll, suffered serious abdominal injuries when he fell against a tractor’s power takeoff while working on his farm. Taken to Freeport hospital after emergency care, his condition was listed as critical.
