Rubber Boots in Short Supply Amid Tuesday Eve Rush
News of a potential freeze on rubber footwear spurred a Tuesday evening rush as customers swarmed local stores and nearly exhausted stocks. A line call reportedly warned sales would halt at midnight, forcing shops to open on a normally closed Tuesday night. The measure targets boots and shoes needing substantial crude rubber, suggesting some shoppers may have stockpiled items still available later. Local residents hosted visitors from Milledgeville, Spring Valley, Mt. Carroll, Savanna, Thomson, and Palatine over the weekend and Sunday.
