Carroll county farmers are offered a four year rye adjustment plan from the AAA. Contracts for 1936 and future years will be handled by the local wheat production control association to save costs. Carroll County 4 H club plans a strong display at the International Stock Show with Jersey and Shorthorn cattle. Youth from across the United States compete in show rings and enjoy planned recreational activities, marking the 50th anniversary celebration.
Carroll county completes assignment of employable relief heads to WPA projects first in district. Seventeen crews and fifty six men on Route 97 York township grading and culvert work. Fifteen on berry eradication by USDA. Ten to water mains in Savannah and two sewing centers. Road work in Rock Creek Freedom Wysox and Savanna townships and traveling streets in Savanna. Workers must accept assigned jobs or lose relief status. funds insufficient to continue relief after Dec 1.
Mr. Bee Pattison, born in Eagle Grove, will present a piano recital at Frances Shimer Junior College on Tuesday evening December 3 at o clock. Trained at the New England Conservatory and with Arthur Schnabel in Berlin, he formed a famous duo performing 24 original numbers. Critics praise his blend of classical and modern repertoire, noting his Bach and contemporary tastes.
The Board of Supervisors of Carroll Counts Winns will meet in an Adjourned Regular Session at the Dew House in Mt Carroll Winds on Tuesday December amth TSR at 1 A. M. All claims to be acted upon must be filed with the Clerk on or before Friday December 6th 1935.
Three men were hurt when an eastbound car crashed into a hay rack team about five o clock Monday near the Elmer Smith farm three miles west of Carroll. Driver Eddie Sweitzer of Woodland was badly hurt. Smith's companion Isenhart suffered minor injuries. Smith was taken home for treatment while a horse was killed and the car heavily damaged. Deputy Sheriff Ray Westphal aided at the scene and traffic was controlled until police arrived.
Signers of corn hog contracts must have bills of sale or sales slips for hogs from their 1935 letters. Compliance checkers start December 2. faster processing hinges on contract signers keeping these documents ready. Also notes a single marriage license issued last week to Bill Yenney of Savanna and Wilma Nadig of Woodbine on November 23.
The Carroll county tuberculosis association reports 1934 sales of Christmas Seals at 257.24 with expenses 123.18. By April 2 1935 expenses reached 240 and total activities 92.46 since then. Balance on hand 69.57 indicates funds are too small for a county clinic. officials seek 130 to 150 more. A county court jury returned a verdict after about one hour in favor of Thomas Bashaw for 750 against the estate of late Lewis William Grim. The case, argued by Charles B. Stuart for Bashaw and A. F. Wintwer, Ralph Eatons, and Grover Reddington, involved board, room, washing and clothing care provided to Grim at Bashaw’s Preston Prairie home.
Checks totaling 4811.25 will be distributed to signers in the county. Additional checks for first right on disbursed group were received at the local office Monday. Six checks remain due on first payment to signers in the county.
