AAA Plans Control Of Rye Crop in Carroll County

Carroll county farmers are offered a four year rye adjustment plan from the AAA. Contracts for 1936 and future years will be handled by the local wheat production control association to save costs. Cooperation could yield up to 35 cents per bushel on the farm allotment, with an allotment set at 30 percent of base year average production. First 1936 installment set at 20 cents per bushel will be paid soon after contract.

University of Illinois enrolls largest early in years

Carroll county students spent Thanksgiving at home while about 150 county youths attend colleges. Twenty one from the county are enrolled at the University of Illinois, with Lanark Savanna Mt Carroll Chadwick Shanton Milledgeville represented. Enrollment statewide is the largest in several years, with students from every county except Calhoun.

Noted Pianist Pattison to Give Recital at Shimer

Mr. Bee Pattison, born in Eagle Grove, will present a piano recital at Frances Shimer Junior College on Tuesday evening December 3 at o clock. Trained at the New England Conservatory and with Arthur Schnabel in Berlin, he formed a famous duo performing 24 original numbers. Critics praise his blend of classical and modern repertoire, noting his Bach and contemporary tastes.

Auto strikes team injuring three west of Carroll

Three men were hurt when an eastbound car crashed into a hay rack team about five o clock Monday near the Elmer Smith farm three miles west of Carroll. Driver Eddie Sweitzer of Woodland was badly hurt. Smith's companion Isenhart suffered minor injuries. Smith was taken home for treatment while a horse was killed and the car heavily damaged. Deputy Sheriff Ray Westphal aided at the scene and traffic was controlled until police arrived.

The Carroll county tuberculosis association reports 1934 sales of Christmas Seals at 257.24 with expenses 123.18. By April 2 1935 expenses reached 240 and total activities 92.46 since then. Balance on hand 69.57 indicates funds are too small for a county clinic. officials seek 130 to 150 more. They note state PWA help possible if locals support a clinic, but follow up funds are uncertain.

A county court jury returned a verdict after about one hour in favor of Thomas Bashaw for 750 against the estate of late Lewis William Grim. The case, argued by Charles B. Stuart for Bashaw and A. F. Wintwer, Ralph Eatons, and Grover Reddington, involved board, room, washing and clothing care provided to Grim at Bashaw’s Preston Prairie home.

County Legion Meet Held Monday With Savanna Post

Van Bibber Jansen post of the American Legion hosted a joint Carroll County meeting in Savanna with Legionnaires and auxiliary members from Mt. Carroll Lenark Milledgeville Chadwick and Stockton. Plans for Savanna Viaduct and Burlington Overhead Rebuild
