Mrs. Amanda Heide 91 Dies in Chadwick Rites Planned

Amanda Howe Heide 91 of Coleta died at 10 30 in Morrison after an extended illness. Funeral 1 30 pm Wednesday Nov 23 at Frank Funeral Home Chadwick with Rev Robert Webb officiating. Burial Oak Knoll near Sterling. Surviving 12 children, four sisters, three brothers, and many grandchildren. Her husband William G Heide preceded her in 1961.

Thanksgiving Return For Wayne Drake Home Visit

Thomson News notes Wayne Drake will spend a few days at his home then return to the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City after Thanksgiving. Mr and Mrs Julius Orthmann of South Milwaukee spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs Larry Sullivan. Sunday dinner guests at Mr and Mrs Larry Smith included Mr and Mrs Ernest Smith Miss Marjorie Smith of Forest Park and Mr and Mrs Charles Green and sons of Stockton. Mr and Mrs George Mattie were guests at Mrs Mattie’s brother-in-law and sister Mr and Mrs Fred Kasten of Freeport with their brother Frank Ward and his wife of Bloomington Wis also joining the visit.

FFA Students Win Honors In Corn Contest

FFA students David Thormahlen Bob Wiltshire and Kenneth Dykstra posted the top corn yields in the section covering Carroll Whiteside and Lee counties with 196.0 187.1 and 185.3 bushels per acre under Vocational Agriculture supervision. They used Pioneer varieties and detailed planting and fertilizing methods amid a drought year in 1966.

The Thomson PTA held its November meeting with about 80 attendees in the school cafeteria. They will sell a one dollar record and memories book titled School Days Book covering student records and family tree, plus plan a used clothing drive and a Red Cross class. Daughter of Former Resident Appointed As Church Worker

Miss M. Carolyn Renner daughter of former Thomson resident Margaret Gaar was commissioned for full time Christian work at Calvary Baptist Church Sterling. She is a Tennessee Temple alumna with a BA in English and Jewish studies from Moody Bible Institute. Ladies Aid to Hold All Day Meeting at Luella Heitman Home

The Ladies Aid of the Baptist Church schedules an all day meeting on Wednesday November 30 at the home of Mrs Luella Heitman. The WSCS of the Methodist Church met at Mrs Larry Smith's home last Wednesday at 9 30 for a breakfast meeting with Paul Petersen presenting a program on Who is a Delinquent. A bake sale is planned for Saturday December 10 starting at 1 00 at the fire station with a coffee bar serving all afternoon. The group will meet again December 21 for a family potluck supper at 6 50.

Thomson Varsity Drops Two In Weekend Set

The Thomson Trojans lost to Sabula 72 to 64 in Friday night action, trailing 39 19 at halftime due to turnovers and cold shooting. Ron Haas 24 and Bill Manning 11 led Thomson scorers, while Dick Sloan and Dwayne Hook anchored defense. The Frosh Soph beat Sabula 62 to 30 with Lee Groharing 15 points and Dennis Zink 11. Tuesday Thomson fell to Elizabeth 73 to 47, hampered by 47 turnovers. Dennis Zink led with 11 and Hook plus Zink grabbed 18 rebounds. The Frosh Soph won 61 46, with Dennis Zink and Hook pacing scorers and Chuck Bailey grabbing 17 rebounds.
