Theodore J. Dorse, 37, of Oquawka Illinois, died after his car left highway 80 near Thomson. He was returning to Savanna for a government barge job when the Terraplane rolled several times and struck a hedge. Coroner's inquest held with witnesses detailing the crash. Survived by wife, a son, and a daughter.

Sam Ethridge Dies Tuesday in Rockford
Sam Ethridge 33 of near Hazelhurst died at three o'clock Tuesday afternoon in Rockford sanatorium. He was born September 15, 1905 on a farm northwest of Lanark and married Mildred Spencer February 24, 1928. He lived in Eagle Point township and ran an auto parts business. member of United Brethren church. Surviving are widow, son Hal Elmer, sisters Grace Haley Hazel Daehler Lanark, brothers Paul Joe Rockford Glen Rae Colorado. Funeral plans not finalized.

Federal Grand Jury Indicts in Freeport Condemnation Case Action
A federal grand jury in Freeport returned an indictment dismissed for now as the defendant is not yet in custody. Judge Charles E. Woodward presides with 82 jurors, 36 dismissed, 34 excused on a condemnation suit in Jo Daviess county. Two locals, William Straw and George Phillips, serve on a Carroll county case opened Monday. The panel toured Galena river land by boat. Fifteen naturalization papers were finalized including immigrants from Ireland Denmark Yugoslavia and Germany among others.
