Separate the two parts, carry the top part or leave it safe, store the bottom part securely, and if the top part is lost bring the bottom portion for a duplicate, or apply immediately if both parts are gone.
Shannon township appoints Grover Reddington to replace the ailing William Fisher on the county board. Reddington took credentials at the November meeting, which lasted briefly with only election expense bills and routine depository approvals. The board honored outgoing sheriff Ray R. Westfall for four years of service.
County board members faced a unusual plea on Tuesday as Robert L. Daly asked to discontinue blind benefits after securing employment. County Clerk Walter Watson noted only one prior request of this kind, marking a rare moment in local aid policy.

The Carroll county war price and rationing board expands to handle gas, food and other items. New members include William S. Berkstresser and B L Peck of Mt. Carroll, J F Lower Lanark, R W Durstine Milledgeville, and others. Temporary local advisers will aid during gas rationing book issuance.
Arthur W. Aaronson from Aledo NL was arrested Friday in Milledgeville on a charge of being absent without leave. He reportedly left Camp Hood Texas on Oct 1 and stayed in Milledgeville for about three weeks while employed at several places. Deputy Sheriff Carlos Johnston detained him and he was later turned over to army officials at Savannah ordnance depot.
Sharon Kay Powell ten month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Powell died in Savanna city hospital from burns suffered when a lighted oil lamp toppled onto her crib while the mother was away for groceries. The baby was found asleep in flames Saturday night and funeral services were held Monday at Clinton funeral home.
The U. S. Grant Council of the Boy Scouts of America will hold its annual meeting November 15 at Freeport High School. The afternoon session begins at 3 p.m. with the election of 1943 officers and business, followed by an evening banquet and round-table discussions for Scout leaders.
Savanna High School fourteen points in the third quarter and six in the fourth powered a 20 to 7 victory over Rochelle on Rochelle field. Rochelle tied the game in the second period before Savanna answered and held off two late Rochelle threats.

Circuit court opens November term with Judge Leon A. Zick presiding in Caroll county. George J. Burke and Martha Ann Wynne of Indianapolis secure a marriage license. Numerous property deeds and legal motions appear, including injunctions against Savanna tavern operators and a dismissed assault case against Kerr Caldwell.
Mrs Aletta Renner aged 91 of Freedom Township died in Savanna hospital less than three hours after a blaze destroyed her home. Ernest Sturtevant rescued her, fire department arrived, total loss valued at 5000 dollars. She was born 1851 in Jo Daviess County and survived by two sons Clarence and Lloyd plus three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral held in Mt Carrol.
More than one hundred rural fire wardens from Carroll County gather in Mt. Carroll for a 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. school of instruction. A district forester from the Illinois council of defense will explain the wardens’ duties with motion pictures. Theodore Colehour of Mt. Carroll leads the county organization.
Carroll county hogs sold 66 head averaging 259 pounds at 14.50 per cwt under Orville Woessner of Shannon as top sellers. Cattle rose to year highs with top steers at 17.45 per cwt and Hereford calves hit 16.50 per cwt for 425 pounds.

The Post Office Department faces a record Christmas mail volume as millions of parcels letters and cards move to and from service members worldwide. Public cooperation mailing early and addressing correctly is urged amid wartime staffing and transport strains. New York's October daily parcel volume reached about 50 000.
The Jo Carroll Electric Cooperative plans an all day meeting in Savanna at Lincoln school on Monday November 16 starting at 10 a m. The gathering includes morning and afternoon sessions.
Motorists in the area must register vehicles to obtain gasoline as rationing begins on November 22. Registration runs through Friday and Saturday with schoolteachers and volunteers serving as registrars at local schoolhouses acting as registration sites.
Registration for basic gas ration books will proceed in Carroll County on November 12 13 and 14 as supplies are on hand and preparations complete. The start of actual rationing is postponed to December 1 or later.
