J C Bennett’s herd of 7 Brown Swiss dairy cattle led Carroll County DHIA in October with an average of 830 pounds of milk and 35 pounds of butterfat. all cows were lactating. Noordhoff and Peck 25 grade Holsteins averaged 887 pounds of milk and 32.9 fat. Carroll and French 21 registered Herefords averaged 770 pounds of milk and 21.1 fat. Holland Pratt herd 15 grade Holsteins and Guernseys posted 770 pounds milk and 31.5 fat, while W G Warnock’s three registered Guernseys averaged 595 pounds milk and 27.83 fat.

Savanna Police Officer Charged With Assault
Kerr Caldwell a Savanna policeman was arrested and arraigned before Justice of the Peace Frank Schroeppel in Mt. Carroll on a charge of assault and battery. Lanark Beeves Bring $17 At Chicago Yard
Clarence Cambman of Lanark, a stock man, shipped two head of prime beef cattle sold in Chicago midweek at $17 per cwt. Each animal weighed about 1245 pounds. Prices at Chicago on October 28 reached yearly peaks with full loads at $17.35 and a part load at $17.40 per cwt.

Man Seriously Injured In Accidental Shot At Mt Carroll Home
G A Reinert, 31, sustained a serious leg wound Friday when a 410 gauge shotgun discharged at his Mt Carroll residence. He received emergency care from a local physician and was moved to Savanna hospital. He said he was preparing to clean the gun when it fired. Reinert works on civilian construction at the Great Lakes naval training station and planned a hunting trip for Saturday.
