Services Held Today For Mrs Nina Jackson
Funeral services were held at McGinnis funeral home in DeWitt Iowa for Nina May Ferguson Jackson who died after a weeklong illness. The Rev Lester Olson officiated with burial in Elmwood cemetery. She was born May 17 1891 in Plainfield Wisconsin and lived near Clinton before moving to a DeWitt area farm in 1918. Her husband Alfred J Jackson died in 1943. Surviving are five daughters five daughters Erma Kaszinski Viola Tietjens Beulah Hopp Alma Casad and Mary Thiel all of DeWitt ten grandchildren one great grandchild three sisters two brothers and she was grandmother of Ben Tietjens Clinton football coach.

Voters Reject Airport Tax Plan in Carroll County
Carroll County voters soundly rejected a proposed county airport tax with 5,080 voting against and 1,621 for. The tax carried only in Savanna precincts 2 and 4, while other Savanna precincts favored it narrowly. Other ballot measures also fell short, with the judicial amendment at 2,624 yes to 4,058 no and the ern act amendment at 2,84 favorable to 3,085 against.
