November Court Term Opens in Carroll County
The November term of circuit court in Carroll County will open next Monday November 19 with Judge Marvin F. Burt presiding. The 10 a.m. grand jury will report and the docket will be called. Three criminal cases appear on the docket since June, including two indictments against Wesley Ingersoll and a burglary and theft charge against Bernard K. Kerkove, plus 13 new common law cases including two divorces, one separate maintenance action, one partition case, and two complaints.

Mrs. Margaret Boice, 81, died at 4 45 am Sunday in Savanna City Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Tuesday at Hunter Jones funeral chapel in Savanna with Rev. Lee Clendenning officiating. Burial was in Savanna Township cemetery. Born December 23, 1880 in Mt Carroll, she married Ernest Boice December 13, 1900 in Marion Iowa. he died in 1947. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Tom Ladd of Santa Monica California and a sister Miss Harriett McClure of Savanna. A son, two brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.

NFO Holds Meeting Discusses Action and Donations
At a Carroll County NFO meeting on November 7 the group discussed the holding action and its effects. Members voted to donate 16.80 to Savanna City Hospital from a surplus fund raised by Savanna and Mt. Carroll businessmen to support advertising for the NFO. The next county meeting is set for December 12 in Mt. Carroll.

Fifteen head sired by Olympic Model began performance testing at the Wulff farm, averaging 46.6 pounds at 57.6 days old, then reaching an average market weight of 203 pounds at 146 days while consuming 267.6 pounds of feed per 100 pounds gain. This marks the second such sire from the Wulff herd in two years and the second-best feed conversion among over fifty Superior Sires in the Poland China breed.

IAA Awards At Annual Meeting in Chicago
Ten Illinois high school vocational agriculture instructors and a county farm adviser were honored at the IAA recognition program during the Sherman House meeting November 12 15. Awards went to three county Farm Bureaus in the 1962 sports festival, seven Farm Bureau student poster winners, four retired IAA employees, and 94 county Farm Bureaus for 1962 membership goals. Membership quotas were given to Carroll and Stephenson counties with Whiteside County receiving the 13th place Sports Festival award.

In a Tuesday session the Carroll county board of supervisors set annual salaries for the clerk, treasurer and sheriff at 6000, 9700 for clerk hire, 7000 for the treasurer and 9000 for the sheriff. Other actions include authorizing a full time courthouse custodian, approving election expenses, designating banks as depositaries, and scheduling a sanity hearing for Wesley Ingersoll amid an attempted murder case and a related $150,000 civil suit.
