Bernie Hook a 17 year old Carroll county farm youth will enter a purebred Shorthorn steer in the junior classes at the Chicago Market Fat Stock and Carrot Competition December 2 to 5. Charles H. Hartman of Thomson also plans to exhibit a Hereford steer. The Chicago show replaces the 1949 International Live Stock exposition and is staged by the Union Stock Yards and Transit Co. Milledgeville Man Chaffee Dies At 58
Milledgeville resident C. Chaffee died at his home about midnight Sunday after a period of poor health. Born January 24, 1904, he was active in the Milledgeville area as a garage operator and later worked with Cram and Lazarus at cattle barns and at weekly Sterling sales auctions. He is survived by his widow two sons Max and William two sisters Miss Winifred Chaffee Mrs W W Lawrence and a brother Ralph. Funeral services were planned for Thursday afternoon.

Savanna city council member and retired railroad engineer Savanna O Krafft, 56, died at 1 a m Friday Oct 23 at his Oak Park Savanna home after a paralytic stroke. Funeral rites were held Sunday at Law Funeral Home with Rev Albert S Nelson officiating and burial in Savanna Cemetery. He was born Feb 5 1886 in Germany and came to the United States at age two. He worked 26 years for Milwaukee Railroad and lived in Savanna about 25 years. He married Pauline Notz of Savanna in Clinton Iowa and they had five children Carl and four daughters Mrs Aady Brock Mrs Clarence Taylor Mrs James Brown and Mrs Fred Dauphin. There are ten grandchildren.
