J Meakins Dies After Alco Crash
Dense fog blanketed a two car head on crash near Sterling early Sunday killing J Meakins 24 of Dixon and Frank E Maher 28 of Lombard IL. Robert E Morris of Sterling driver of the other car is in critical condition at Sterling hospital. Meakins and Maher were en route to Dixon when the accident occurred around 2 am. Both vehicles were mangled and apparently traveling at high speed as onlookers moved the injured to hospital. Coroner held inquest. bodies released for burial.
