Checks totaling 5460.89 were distributed to Carroll county township treasurers as their share of state school distributive funds. The Social Security Board announced plans affecting 26 million workers to begin administering the old age program. Starting Nov. 16 post offices will distribute an employer identification form and later, from Nov. 24, employees receive an account number form through employers. The plan aims to provide monthly income for life at age 65 based on prior earnings. the process emphasizes account numbers over “numbers” for beneficiaries.
F C McConaha of Pontiac Illinois organizer of the state sportsmen clubs will speak in Savanna on Saturday November 14. He will show a freer movie on wild bird life including Carroll county footage. He invites all sportsmen to attend as the meeting will explain Carroll county’s first quota of baby chicks pheasants and quail next spring. The meeting place will be announced later.
Circuit Judge Edwards of Dixon was stricken with a heart attack Sunday at his home and ordered to rest. He will not hold court for more than a week, as Judge Manus of Freeport presided over the opening petit jury session in Galena. Sentencing of Guy M. Tallmadge, Rockford, was postponed due to Edwards illness. Later reports denied the heart attack, saying influenza illness instead. The November term opens Monday with Judge Joseph A Davis of Princeton presiding in Edwards absence.

Vailip Shoup a 70 year old Milwaukee railway freight conductor fell from a moving train while pouring water on a hot box. He was found semi conscious near the Mississippi river bridge between Sabula and Savanna and died next morning after being taken to the Savanna hospital. The inquest ruled death from a broken neck. Survived by his widow and two daughters. burial planned in Lincoln.
The State Natural History Survey asks Carroll County sportsmen to help study parasites and dispersal in ducks pheasants and quails by submitting digestive tracts including crop gizzard intestines windpipes and if possible liver under Dr Yeatter. Local chapters should arrange submissions for credit.
Simon Whistler a Morrison area farmer and longtime White Side County resident died suddenly at his home on Tuesday morning. He leaves a widow Clara Knox and seven children Giern Lee wm j Mra Qirer, plus relatives in Sand Springs Okla and Des Moines Ia. He had served in county treasurer and other active roles. Funeral arrangements await further notice.
Judge William J. Emerson 62 of Oregon Illinois dies five days after election leaving 15th judicial circuit vacancy. Emerson had health issues and recently returned from Rochester Minnesota clinic. He previously served as state's attorney of Ogle County and prosecuted the Marty Elgin Webster trial. Governor On Vacation offers no comment on possible special election.
A marriage license was issued on Saturday November 7 to Robert J Williamson and Dorothy M Myers, both residents of Woodland township.
Bureau County youth Adam Rycznski, 27, won the 1936 Illinois state corn husking championship with 41 175 bushels in 30 minutes at Maple Park De Kalb county. Irving Beeman and Theodore Taffte followed as near runners, amid a crowd of 25 000 to 40 000 in mud.
