Trappers May Obtain Tags for 1954 55 Season
Refuge Manager R V Wade of Thomson Illinois says trapping tags for furbearing animals on the Upper Mississippi Refuge are on hand at ten cents each with a 50 tag limit. Wade will be at the post office in Futon Savanna Galena Thomson on listed dates from noon to 1 pm and 6 to 7 pm to issue tags. The season runs noon November 15 1954 to noon January 15 1955 with species including mink muskrat raccoon opossum skunk and weasel no daily or possession limits. Beaver season runs noon February 1 1955 to noon February 15 with a limit of 10 per person.

Carroll county voters turned out in good numbers on Tuesday though total votes were lower than 1950. County clerk records show this year's tally around 6726 versus just over 7000 in 1950. First Snowstorm Grips The Area Early Week
The season's first snowstorm dropped about two inches in the vicinity Monday morning with light flurries later.
