Rain and threatening skies forced manager Lewis to postpone the Sunday game with the Albany Independents. A morning inspection found the field too wet, and with more rain forecast the contest was set for June. Albany plans to visit around June 15th or 22nd, exact date to be decided.
A York township Farm Bureau tour on June 1 gathers at 9:30 a m at Thomson for an auto tour of Sandridge county focusing on alfalfa and sweet clover on sandy land. Speakers include Grace Seaman and C M Kingery with farm visits to Patt and Agar, Robt Grovines, Rush Carroll, and Judge Stransky highlighting alfalfa yields and limestone value.
Fragments reveal Mr. and Mrs. Earl Roggendorf visiting Clinton last Sunday. Mentions of a baby, wishes to see someone next year, and vague travel to Prairie Du Chien with a lone reference to Selden and local jobs.
The Methodist Church hosted the grade school graduation last Monday evening with a program including March by Vivian Sack, prayers by Rev. Clark Williams, a musical duet, diplomas presented by W. A. Adams, and benediction by Rev. Clark Williams. Mrs. Lorenzen and Albany High School pupils bring the operetta to Albany Community Hall for two nights, after strong showings at the opera house. Auto trips are expected as Durkee's Department Store in Fulton promotes bargains in this week's Review for out of town buyers.
Due to the Sunday School Convention the Hoosier Schoolmaster will be shown Thursday instead of Wednesday. A-Muse-U presents two showings at 7 and 8 35 with the vivid early Hoosier days depicted and memory recalled for readers of the book.
Grade school operetta drew one of the winter’s largest crowds as curtain rose last Thursday night at the Opera House. The cast, under Mrs Lorenzo n fame as producer, delivered a polished performance with strong musical numbers. Immortals featured Martha Rush and Louise St. Ores, while Mortals included Cissie Rosebud and Edith Cochran. Luther Geisinger, touring with Brooks Stock Company, was noted as traveling near Appleton Wisconsin.
The Thomson and York Community high schools held their annual alumni gathering Tuesday evening at the high school. A large attendance enjoyed the program and banquet at the Methodist church basement, with talks and a brief business meeting. The event closed about 9 30 with dancing and social hour. Officers elected for the following year include President William Jenkins and Vice President B R Lewis.
Mr and Mrs Ed Martindale and son Francis plan to move to Baraboo Wisconsin to establish a future home. They will live with Mrs Martindales parents while Ed builds on purchased lots. Thomson residents regret their departure and wish them success in the new home. Decoration night 10 cent show at the Opera House noted.
Mr and Mrs Chas McGinty send a warm note to the Thomson Review from Kimball South Dakota dated May 22, 1924. They recall farm life, taxes and hard work, praise Kimball, and thank Thomson readers for past memories. They mention their sons Richard Vermon and Carroll and say they still visit Thomson and send best wishes from home.
Attendance at the Carroll County Sunday School Convention in Thomson drew delegates from across the county. About seventy five registered by noon as Rev. Clark Williams led the opening service and Leon Tyler delivered the morning address. The afternoon featured talks by Rev. Montgomery and speakers from the Methodist and Christian churches. Evening session at 7 30 with Mr Tyler and Rev Forney of Lanark drew a large crowd.
Bob Irwin is at Mayo Bro hospital undergoing goitre treatment and is said to be in fair shape. The Review force is printing about 5000 double page bills for Durkee's Department Store in Fulton this week.
