Memorial Day services and parades planned in Lanark and surrounding towns as veterans groups including American Legion and Spanish War Veterans lead ceremonies. The event honors dead from all wars with talks, flag ceremonies, and a cemetery salute. judicial candidates and party leaders address attendees at a Lanark banquet.
Members of the Lanark Cold Storage Locker Plant board and local manager will attend a district meeting of lock er plant directors and managers tomorrow at eight o'clock in the Lanark Masonic Temple. Directors and managers from Whiteside Stephenson Lee Ogle and Winnebago counties will also be present.
Carroll County supervisors prepare a new petit juror list to include 10 percent women voters and 10 percent men in each precinct. The change, effective July 3, requires selecting a master jury from the present list with female participation. Courthouse adjustments and female bailiffs may be needed to accommodate jurors, with June meetings set to review the plan.
The United States Senate approved bills authorizing construction of bridges across the Mississippi River at Chester Til and between East Dubuque Til and Dubuque Ta. The Chester bridge bill had passed the House and returns for amendment approval. The Dubuque bridge would be built under the Dubuque bridge commission created in the bill.
Mrs. George Hoffman of Mt. Carroll was elected president of the 13th District Women’s Republican Association at a Lanark meeting. Mrs. Sherman Myers of Mt. Carroll was named secretary treasurer. The group after organizing affiliated with the National Republican Woman’s Club.
Honor rolls recall Carroll County men who died in the World War as schools announce graduation exercises across the county. Memorial Day programs, veterans revival, and juror list changes are planned with local officials noting wage rises and longer school terms.

Holstein cattle breeders in Jo Daviess Stephenson and Carroll counties will stage an exhibit and picnic in Stockton on June 21. C E Hulbert Stockton is general chairman, with committees for cattle selection grounds judging publicity and demonstrations. Exhibits expected from Stockton Warren Scales Mound and Mt Carroll among others. Milk Maid Beauty Contest accompanies the show with entrants 16 or older, judged 75 percent on beauty 20 percent on costume and 5 percent on milking ability. winner goes to state contest in Mooseheart on July 1.

A federal grand jury in Freeport awarded landowners $5,140.20 in the seventh Carroll county condemnation suit tied to the Mississippi river channel project. Of 24 tracts, only Fay Hall’s 26 acres faced higher demand. he received $250. Fourteen more condemnations are active, with about sixteen additional suits expected. Judge Woodward adjourned to July 4, noting a June session would not meet due to election day.
H. E. Teeter his wife and son and a friend die when their car is struck by a truck in Arizona. The tragedy leaves local relatives grieving as authorities investigate the fatal incident and identify the victims.
A coroner's jury in Chloride Arizona found a truck driver caused the collision on the Boulder Dam highway 20 miles north of Kingman. Victims included Miss Myrtle Weidman 67 of Mt Carroll Harry E Teeter 50 his wife Vena 49 their son John H Teeter 20 of LaGrange TH. The Teeters were bound for California to visit a daughter Mrs. Geo Foster in Seal Beach. Funeral services were held in Los Angeles. Weidman to be buried in Mt Carroll with sister Mrs. Mac Densmore accompanying the body. The driver remained critically injured. Surviving relatives scattered across Illinois Wisconsin and California.
