Two Drivers Charged With DUI in Carroll County Court

In Carroll County Court Judge Edward Turnbaugh heard two DUI cases Monday. Earl Johnson of Clinton Indiana was found guilty and fined 150 dollars plus 55.30 costs after arrest Saturday night in Thomson. Roland Glenn, address not given, entered no plea. case continued to next Monday with Glenn held in county jail.

Probation Violator Sentenced to Prison Farm

Clarwin Van Minsel, released from an Iowa jail last week, appeared in Carroll county court on probation terms violation. Judge Edward Turnbaugh sent him to one year at Vandalia state prison farm. Van Minsel had been on probation since arrest here two years ago on bad check charges. County officials planned to leave Wednesday for Springfield to attend a state convention of county officers.

Timber Lake Playhouse to Open in Salem Township

Savanna Native Dies in Chicago Saturday

Savanna born Savanna native Savanna-John Alden Cooley, 40, died Saturday at his Chicago home. Body returned to Savanna for funeral services at 11 a.m. in Fuller Memorial Chapel, with burial in Savanna Township cemetery. Born Oct. 29, 1921, he was the son of Henry and Joy Ritchie Cooley. Surviving are his mother in Savanna and a brother Henry of Armonk, New York.

Mrs Ren Rus Dies at Fulton Home

Mrs Ren Rus 68 mother of Mrs Marvin Tegeler of Chadwick died Saturday at her Fulton home after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p m at Sikkema funeral home Fulton with Rev Jack Van Heest officiating. Burial was in Fulton Cemetery. She was born May 22 1893 in Garden Plain, married Ren Rus Jan 28 1915. They farmed until 1944 when they moved to Fulton. Surviving are her husband, three sons and two sisters.

Savanna-Otto Grill 73 Dies in Shannon Nursing Home

Savanna resident Savanna Otto Grill aged 73 died Friday near Shannon in the Johnson nursing home where he had lived eight months. Born in Chicago July 27 1888 he married Frede Hoffman in Savanna in 1916. He worked for Milwaukee Road for years and is survived by twoSavanna nieces.

Mrs. Fulrath, Savanna Pioneer, Dies at 95

Irene Smith Fulrath, 95, of Savanna, died Sunday morning at home. She founded and ran the Fulrath Oil Company in Savanna until 1958. Survived by three daughters, one son, 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and a half-sister. Funeral held Wednesday at Hunter's Fuller Memorial Chapel with burial in Savanna Township Cemetery. Born April 29, 1867 in Carroll County to Thomas J. and Letitia Dick Smith. Married William R. Fulrath on April 11, 1886. he died in 1931.

Chadwick Beats Lanark to Claim Conference Title

Chadwick high school baseball team crushed Lanark 16 to 3 to win the Car roll Conference title with a 4-0 record this spring. Vic Hartman pitched five innings allowing two hits, Fossett and Emyre handled the later frames. Chadwick undefeated in conference so far, following a district loss last week.
