Kratz Graduates From Theological Seminary In Chicago

Mrs Reaves Kratz and family from Pacific Palisades visit Chicago for son Donald Kratzs seminary graduation at McCormick Theological Seminary. He will pastor in South Charleston Ohio and be ordained there in June. Grandmother and relatives plan a visit in Fulton for ten days after the ceremony.

Baptist Youth Meet at York Church Picnic

The Baptist Youth Fellowship of York Baptist Church met at 7 p.m. Sunday at the home of Jill and Dick Sloan for a picnic supper. A ball game followed in the village park and Jill Sloan spoke on church camp with Blackhawk Baptist Camp experiences.

Funeral for Earl Miller Held in Princeton

Mrs. Mervin Marshall traveled to Malden Illinois Thursday after the sudden death of her brother-in-law Earl Miller from a coronary. The funeral took place Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Princeton with Mrs. Marshall and her daughter Mrs. Merle Cate attending and returning home Saturday evening.

York Community High names 1962 valedictorian and salutatorian

Mary Ann Hoff Bender is valedictorian and Kathleen Dykstra is salutatorian for the York Community High School class of 1962. Bender carries a 3.33 average, Dykstra an unspecified Baccalaureate average. Graduation and commencement occur at 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on May 27 and 28 in the York Community High School gym.

American Legion Holds May 9 Meeting Strategies

The American Legion meeting led by Commander Jack Foltz included twelve members. Reports highlighted Ronnie Mitchell's Boys State interest and a tidied fence by George Hook. Thomson Women Dominate Local Cake Contest at Power Company

Several Thomson ladies entered the cake contest held last Thursday and Friday at Interstate Power Company in Mt. Carroll. Mrs. Claude Orr of Mt. Carroll won and earns a spot in the Savanna bake-off Friday evening at Interstate headquarters. Competitors include Mrs. Paul Dauphin of Savanna and Mrs. Robert Kemppert of Galena. Pvt. James Baker Completes Marine Corps Training

James E. Baker of the United States Marine Corps has finished individual combat training with the Second Training Regiment at Camp Pendleton California. The training covers tactical matters and field combat skills for Marines. He is on leave with his parents in Thomson before reporting to San Diego Naval Base for four weeks of sea school.

Fire damages home near Thomson from lightning strike

A lightning strike hit the telephone line five miles north of Thomson causing a fire at the Bentley Baldridge home. The blaze damaged walls woodwork rugs and curtains with about 250 dollars in losses. Fire crews were not needed as the fire was put out with water.
