Mrs Maude Sager departed Tuesday evening for an indefinite visit with her daughter and son in law at Portland Oregon. Return 11 True Bills Tuesday

Eleven indictments were returned Tuesday by the March grand jury recalled to duty at the request of State's Attorney J. L. Brearton. Four indictments name Francis McCombie of Savanna for failing to support a minor child with bonds of $600 each. Three indictments name Leslie Bailey of Savanna on similar charges with $600 bonds. Other indictments name Ray Douglas and Carrie Jones of Savanna for adultery with $2000 bonds, and Thomas Cooke with failure to support a minor child and $700 bond.

Report on Old Age Security Payments in Carroll County

In Carroll County Illinois nearly 265 of 359 residents received old age security payments in June 1947 with 99 on old age insurance benefits and 38 on insurance for every 100 pension recipients. The report notes federal insurance reduced pension need less than in Winnebago County and compares county results.

Car Rolls Into Lake. Couple Escape Serious Injury

Mr and Mrs Ray Johnson of Savanna escaped serious harm when their Oldsmobile left Route 80, plunged down a 50 foot embankment into a small lake near Chestnut Park. Johnson pulled his wife from the car. he suffered two fractured ribs and minor cuts. Mrs Johnson had leg lacerations. They were treated and released at Savanna City hospital then with Mary Rovers house. Officers Ernest Johnson and Wilmer Lamelle investigated. Johnson said he dozed and lost control. The car was towed to a garage.

Legion District Meet Planned in Dixon on June 6

Illinois Legion posts in the 13th district will hold their annual district convention in Dixon on Sunday June 6 with events led by district commander H F Walder. Mrs P F Grove 62 dies suddenly in Milwaukee

Mrs P F Grove died at 4 a m May 14 in Milwaukee while visiting her son Robert. A heart attack was the cause. She was born July 25 1885 in Seymour and married to P F Grove in 1906. They lived in Mt Carroll 26 years with Grove serving 25 years as school superintendent. Surviving are husband a daughter John Patterson Greensboro NC three sons Major Donald Grove Honolulu Eugene Alma and Robert Milwaukee six grandchildren and two brothers.
