Springfield Carroll county was represented among 5000 delegates at the Illinois State Republican convention held Monday May 10 at the Armory in Springfield. Pension and ADC payments rise in Illinois April totals

Springfield reports April payouts for old age pension reach 5 152 187 dollars and aid to dependent children total 1 896 546 dollars, both up from March. In Carroll county 9 091 dollars went to 249 recipients and 1 071 supported 38 children. Whiteside county paid 27 336 dollars to 701 individuals and 5 011 dollars aided 178 children.

Crippled Children Clinic In Rockford To Be Held

A clinic for physically handicapped children will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday May 20 in St. Anthony's hospital Rockford. Dr Herbert R Robes director of services for crippled children announced. The event is organized by University of Illinois Division of Services for Crippled Children with cooperation from Rockford Visiting Nurses Association and Rockford Junior League. Youth Shot in Wrist Sunday in Hedgeville Accident

Hedgeville reports a youth shot in the wrist Sunday evening by an accidental discharge while handling a gun with which he had been looting rats. The youth was taken to Dr Wixman who removed the bullet and returned home to his parents, where he is reported resting comfortably.

Carroll County Chorus Elects Officers in May Meeting

Savanna Paul Bury Named Custodian of Mississippi Palisades Park

Istue Savanna Paul Bury, 32, of Savanna, has been appointed custodian of the Mississippi Palisades state park north of Savanna. He will assume duties soon with his family in a new five room bungalow on the park. Bury, a World War II Navy veteran, succeeds John Landors who resigned months ago. The park opened last week after improvements including a water tower, water mains, sewer system, Sunset Point grading, a lodge and cabins in planning, 175 picnic tables, eight fireplaces and extensive playground equipment installed.

Lanark Wins Sectional Judging Championship

Lanark Vocational Agriculture teams won first in livestock and dairy judging at Rockton on May 7, earning top overall honors in the All-Around Judging Championship with a 8756.0 score. The Lanark dairy team placed third, and individuals Lyle Kaufman and Dick Weber won first as livestock and poultry judges respectively. Local competitors praised stock growers for judging practice and prizes included ribbons and a plaque.
