In a special election Saturday night voters across Milledgeville area five districts weighed a consolidation proposal. The measure failed with 38 for versus 51 against. Cotton Point, South Otter Creek and Walker districts voted against. Milledgeville and Dutchtown supported the plan. milledgeville 13 for 2 against dutchtown 6 for 3 against. The overall plan failed as long as any district opposed it.

Farmer Kills Fox After It Attacks On Roadside
Mt. Carroll area farmer Charles Knauer killed a fox that attacked him on highway 78 near Mt. Carroll. After the fox lunged twice, Knauer subdued it and was aided by Robert Johnson and Ernest Hauth, who killed the animal with a rock. The incident followed the fox’s abnormal behavior, suggesting illness.

One third of outlets violated rules with 442 food pricing, 98 taverns raised drink prices beyond allowed increases, and 91 dining rooms lacked accessible menus for the public during April 4 to 10 1943. Record keeping broke down at 477 establishments. Price panels plan hearings and a second check is planned to curb violations.
