Dr N Genevieve Chipman elected president of the Carrell County Medical Society at the annual spring meeting held last week in Mount Carroll. She succeeds Dr G E B Mershon as president. Dr H R Sword elected secretary treasurer. Dr B C Turner of Savanna named delegate to the 88nd annual Hlinda State Medical Society meeting May 17–19 at Springfield. Nearly 40 attended the dinner at Hotel Glenview. program at Majestic theatre featured Dr W L Karcher of Freeport with Alaska trip talk and films. attendees included doctors from Clinton and Dubuque and several Illinois towns.

R D Bennett left Jane Lamb hospital last Saturday and stays with daughter Mrs Everett Hawkins in Clinton. Floyd Leavens family north of Thomson on Lynn Curley farm are quarantined for acee fever. Morgen improves from emoration for appendicitis. Strabb, injured at Merry hospital, returns home. Tom Cochran, from St Luke's Chicago, brought home Sunday. Ely Cochran drove to Chicago after his father, who is able to work in the store. Mrs Kyle Rewiins felon and blood poisoning worsen. Jake Miller returned from Savanna and conferred with doctors about plate. He returned home Tuesday.
Methodist church ladies host the 18th annual alumni banquet on Saturday May 26 at the gym. Menu includes roast pork mashed potatoes brown gravy pickles cabbage salad beans rolls coffee angel food cake ice cream. A program follows with local entertainment and dancing in the school gym. Directors include Louise St Ores Gilbert Holland Donald Witt Thelma Schick Harriet Smith and others. The eighth grade commencement is set for Thursday May 26 with Rev Longdoe as speaker.

Mr and Mrs Harry Stirling of Minneapolis travel Saturday for two weeks with Mrs A E Lewis and relatives, joined by Miss Roberta Lewis visiting from attendance at school.
Henry Eilers died after a lingering illness and his funeral was held at his Chadwick home with Rev. W E Szidges presiding. Interment followed in Chadwick cemetery. Eilers, born 1879, left a wife Adelina Doden and daughter Laverne Hartman, survived by family across Sterling and Chadwick, with many friends mourning his loss. Oscar Dachler and C Miller sang at the service.
Carroll county young people in terested in Christian work in the Sunday schools turned out one hundred and seventy-five strong to aid in the annual banquet and meeting at the Hope church Tuesday night a most successful affair. The meeting was held in conjunction with the annual Sunday school convention. Kev J. Mathis of Milledgeville county young people's superintendent and the Chadwick Philathea class should be given most of the credit for making the banquet such a decided success. Rev Mathis because he took charge made all arrangements and drew up the following excellent program. Bluebell camp No. 438 will meet next Tuesday afternoon at the local lodge hall. The social committee includes Bertha Holland chairwoman Lalu Hoy Ethel Potter Alberta Wir Margaret Libberton Wartha Halk and Hattie Yates. The Order of Eastern Stars will meet the local lodge hall tonight Thursday. Mrs Ree Dahl of Savannah will complete her School of Instruction work.
The shipping association warped a carload of stock to Chicago on Monday. Named in the car were Joe Kauffman Claus Prins George Weatherwax William Johnson and others. The 500 club is cooperating with Mrs James Mompeert and Mr and Mrs Cecil George of price or at Senate. The latter's parents, Mr Ely Govtoum.

Barn dances surge in Carroll county with many venues offering evenings of old time tunes like Turkey in the Straw. Thomson now boasts several orchestras and dancing spots including Riverview hall at Riverview park and the local Masonic hall with Irve Martindale’s orchestra. Frank Foltz and Hanson brothers join a growing barn dance circuit as Missis sippi Valley Farm Shirley ranch west of Plum River hosts a Saturday with Mastindates orchestra. A barn dance association may form to regulate nights across venues and keep the revival orderly.
The YCHS senior class will present Tiger House in the high school gym on May 20 at 8 o clock. Admission is 25 cents. Cast lists include Erma Lowrie Alma Wilma Senith Arthur Hak Elmer Hook and others with roles such as Dyrelyn Sickel Mrs Nordoc Velma Johmsos and more. The event follows exams as students finish history work and typing class completes a project.
