York township debates reopening Thomson State Bank under state rules. A committee urges residents to buy stock, support Mr. French, and restore banking services, with Saturday deadline and potential receiver if insufficient subscriptions.
Members of Mistletoe Chapter 458 of Thomson will observe an impressive obligation night at the evening meeting. Charter members and officers from 1900 are listed. A social hour will follow with Thomson brand angel food cake ice cream and coffee. Clayton Atherton of Rochester Kansas attended his aunt’s funeral and returned home. Thomas Hand starts work as game and fish investigator in Carrell county under Springfield headquarters.
Rush Carroll was reelected president of the York Parent Teachers Association at the May meeting in the Community gym. Officers for 1933 34 include Miss Decia Brooks first vice president Mrs Maude Sears second vice president Mrs Nellie Schade third vice president George Manus secretary Mrs Minnie Miller treasurer.
The Review prints a letter from Mrs Caroline Fuller of Lanark describing plans to live there with her sister who has taught in Chicago. They will rent two four room houses and open a public library to visitors. Mrs Fuller mentions thousands of lilies of the valley and a plentiful supply to dig and share.

Churches announce Sunday school at one church and no Sunday services. The Aid Society plans all day Thursday May 18 at Mrs Will Griswolds home with a potluck. Live Wire class meets Thursday May 18 with Miss Roth Carroll hosting. Sunday school social postponed to Tuesday evening May 16 at the Will Griswold home.
A special service including a Mother's Day program will be held at the church Sunday evening at 7 30. The Rev Berge will deliver the sermon.
The Altay and Rosary Society met at Mrs. Tom McNamara’s home Thursday afternoon. After the business session the group played cards and enjoyed ice cream angel food cake and nut cake. The next meeting is scheduled for June 1. ARGO-FA The Argo Sunday school will present a Mother's Day program before Sunday school hour with no preaching services. Friends are invited.
The Methodist Church schedules 10:00 Sunday school 11:00 morning worship 6:00 Young Peoples meeting and 8:00 union service. Saturday afternoon at 4:15 probation class meets for study and play. On Mother's Day all services honor mothers with a program and tea at 4:00. Featured items include songs duets a piano duo solo and readings. The old society held an all day meeting Wednesday cleaning the church and serving a dinner. Rev Todd to lead the union service. all singers urged to join the choir for engaging union services.
The Church of Christ plans morning services with a Mother's Day tribute and is marking several months for the schedule. Junior Endeavor groups are paused until fall. Sunday evening union services with the Methodist church will be held at Methodist church. Rev. and Mrs. Todd and Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Adams with daughter Arlene were guests. Card of thanks expresses appreciation for support and flowers, with thanks to Rev. Todd and Rev. Schaich and those who assisted.
York township residents are urged to buy at least one share of stock in the Janmson State Bank this week. The community vote on reopening will be decided by Saturday evening after a committee meeting, with potential partnership with Mr. French in management.

Funeral services for Cyrena L Shoemaker Dunshee were held Tuesday at the family home. Born October 14 1857 she died May 6 1995 at her daughter’s Thomson home aged 73 years 7 months 22 days. She and husband Charles J Dunshee were longtime York township farmers later living in Thomson. Surviving are daughter Adeline and grandson Bruce Groharing, sister Jane Ashbrook of Ashley Ohio, plus nephews and other relatives. The Christian church and Bible school were central to her life, and she was a longtime faithful worker and former Ladies Aid president. Rev. David E Todd and Rev. B E Schaich officiated with floral tributes and musical selections by Lane Si Ons and Harriett Smith.
Carloads of extra fine cattle shipped from Thomson on Monday via Milwaukee road. George Ottens Claus Prins Abe Hook led the shipments to Chicago, with accomplices Garrett Bolhous George Ottens John Ottens and Claus Prins. Prices reached 5.75 for Prins Herefords and 5.05 for Ottens cattle. shipments to Alexander Conover Martin and Barton Looney Company. Also notes sparse highway subscription for Route 171 to Route 78 with local opposition and calls for paved highway costs.
Mrs Chaya Lawrence lies ill at her daughter Mrs Ie Martindale home as three Cate children and Mrs Cate’s husband are quarantined for fever. Jack Demaree is also ill and in quarantine with his mother and the Cate family at the Cate residence.
Life-Savers subscribers are thanked for renewals including Leo Allen a Congressman Henry Stoner John Lohmeer Merle Turney Mrs Emma Steele W A Senneff and others from various towns. A notable local wedding united Mr and Mrs C Carlson and their daughters at the Joann caroli home in Camanche Iowa.
Thomson hunters discussed plans for pursuing a wolf sighted near Grim farm after Hu Cate reported the creature attacking a lamb. Grim and Cate followed the tracks but the wolf fled. Grim killed a lamb and noted several losses, including pigs, amid talk of a coordinated hunt and den tracking pending powder and favorable weather.
A Friday night benefit at Fulton Coliseum supports the Fitton baseball team with dances and local figures like the Geisingers contributing as entertainers and organizers for the May event.
