Minot Farmer Praises West North Dakota and Guernsey Trade
Dear Editor I write from Minot North Dakota after four years in Wisconsin and a year here. A local banker owner runs a large dairy farm with pure bred Guernsey cattle Belgian horses and Rhode Island Red chickens. We ship stock to western states and have built a high class Minot market for Guernsey milk and cream. Two cows on official test may exceed 800 pounds butter fat this year. We showed last fall and won premiums in Minnesota Wisconsin Illinois Iowa and South Dakota. Moose River valley farm three miles from Minot on Roosevelt Highway has modern buildings automatic water electric lights and motors. Locals drift from grain to dairy, enough milk to support five creameries and milk plants in Minot. Minot population about thirteen thousand with schools churches parks and a lively scene.
